Family Services and Relationship
Breakdown
Overview of our Family Department
We understand that the prospect of divorce or separation is extremely daunting and therefore it is important that you seek professional advice as soon as you can. Our highly experienced team of family lawyers can give married people advice about separation or the divorce procedure, the financial implications of divorcing and the ancillary relief procedure. For those who are unmarried we can advise you about the law relating to cohabiting couples and the ownership of property. We can also advise you about protecting your property and how to help you make arrangements for your children.
We also advise non parents for example Grandparents or other family members in relation to issues which may arise concerning children in their family.
Our team also helps families where there is involvement by the Local Authority for example if Care Proceedings have been issued.
It is easy to make an appointment to see us at either our Colchester or Dunmow office. We understand that for some it can be difficult to see a solicitor, particularly if you have work commitments or young children, and therefore we now open both offices on a Saturday morning from 9.00am in addition to our usual office hours.
We also understand that the financial pressures on most people caused by the current financial climate can be a reason to put off seeking professional advice. We therefore offer a reduced rate fixed fee initial appointment during which we can take information form you about the background of your case, advise you about the preliminary steps which should be taken and the likely future cost of your case. We also offer advice under the Legal Help Scheme for all those eligible.
Our expertise has been recognised by the Law Society and Resolution as some individuals in our team are members of the Law Society Family Law Panel, and others have achieved highly regarded advanced membership and also have been awarded specialist accreditation by Resolution. These accreditations can only be achieved by experienced solicitors and following rigorous assessment.
We are also proud to have two trained Family Mediators.
